Lake Ordinances

All existing boats and motors upon Lake Vandalia together with all boats and motors registered and/or situated upon Lake Vandalia hereinafter shall be registered as to motor and boat serial number and model number. Not more than 20 competition ski boats shall be licensed upon Lake Vandalia. Subject to approval from the Lake Committee. No hydroplane type boat is permitted on Lake Vandalia.

Boating Fees:

11.18.030 - Boating fees.

(a) License Fees.

         (1) Class A. Non-Powered Boats and Sail Boats. For each row boat or canoe with manual propulsion or sail boat, non-powered, the license fee shall be ten dollars ($10.00) for the year for which the license is issued.

         (2) Class B. Motor Boats and Powered Sail Boats. For each motor boat, inboard or outboard, and sail boat, powered, propelled by a motor with a rating of fifty (50) horsepower or less, the license fee shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) for the year for which the license is issued.

        (3) Class C. Motor Boats, Outboard and Inboard. For each boat propelled by a motor with a rating of fifty-one (51) or more but less than one hundred one (101) horsepower, the license fee shall be fifty dollars ($50.00) for the year for which the license is issued.

        (4) Class D. Motor Boats, Outboard and Inboard. For each boat propelled by a motor with a rating of in excess of one hundred (100) horsepower but less than one hundred fifty-one (151) horsepower, the license fee shall be seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for the year for which the license is issued.

        (5) Class E. Motor Boats, Outboard and Inboard. For each boat propelled by a motor with a rating of in excess of one hundred fifty-one (151) horsepower but less than two hundred one (201) horsepower, the license fee shall be one hundred dollars ($100.00) for the year for which the license is issued.

        (6) Class H. Jet Ski: Two hundred dollars ($200.00).

        (7) Class I. Competition Ski Boat: Two hundred dollars ($200.00).

        (8) Class J. Motor Boats, Outboard or Inboard, Two hundred one (201) to two hundred twenty-five (225) horsepower — for each boat or other craft propelled by a motor with a rating of two hundred one (201) through two hundred twenty-five (225) horsepower, the license fee for each such boat or craft shall be one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00).

        (9) Class K. Motor Boats, Outboard or Inboard.  Two Hundred Twenty-Six (226) or higher horsepower - for each boat or other craft propelled by a motor with a rating of Two Hundred Twenty-Six (226) or higher, the license fee for each such boat and craft shall be Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00)

(b) Record Changing Costs. No boat or craft shall be operated on the lake or reservoir with a motor or engine of greater rated horsepower than that which was designed for the boat or craft, and that which is stated in the application for license. If a greater rated horsepower motor is placed upon the boat or craft thereby increasing the same to a higher license bracket, than such owner shall make application accordingly and pay the differential fee plus the added fee of five dollars ($5.00) for each record changing cost.

(c) Transfer Fee. Upon the sale of any boat or craft, the license issued therefore shall cease to apply but such license and the number may be transferred to any other qualified boat or craft owned by the vendor upon the written application and the payment of a transfer fee of five dollars ($5.00). The boat or craft so sold shall be immediately removed from the lake and the reservoir or registered by the purchaser as in the case of an original registration.

(d) Daily Boat Permit Fee. A maximum of ten (10) daily boat permits may be issued on a first come, first served basis. All municipal boat licensing requirements currently in effect shall first be met by applicant prior to issuance of any daily boat permit by the Lake Committee. The fee schedule for daily boat permits shall be as follows or as amended from time to time by the Lake Committee. A daily permit as hereinabove provided for a jet ski shall be only available Monday through Thursday inclusive, and shall also not be available on any declared City of Vandalia holiday.

        (1) One-day permit.

        For each row boat or canoe with manual propulsion or unpowered sail boat, or           powered boat or craft with horsepower of less than one hundred one (101), a ten dollar ($10.00) fee.

        For all powered boats with a horsepower in excess of one hundred (100) through two hundred twenty-five (225), a twenty dollar ($20.00) fee.

For any personal watercraft (jet ski), a twenty dollar ($20.00) fee.

(2) Two-day permit.

        For each row boat or canoe with manual propulsion or unpowered sail boat, or powered boat or craft with horsepower of less than one hundred one (101), a fifteen dollar ($15.00) fee.

Seasonal Camping Permits. The annual lease fee for the camping lots on the North side of Lake Vandalia shall be as follows:

A new seasonal permit shall be required contemporaneously with granting of a transfer pursuant to application for a transfer and payment of this transfer fee in Section 11.18.020(c).

(b)  Overnight and Weekly Permits. The fee for public camping within the camping area shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) per night. Persons sixty-five (65) years and older shall be charged a fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per night Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. The fee for a block of twenty (20) nights shall be three hundred fifty dollars ($350.00).

(c)  Transfer Fee. The transfer fee for annual lease lots on the north side of Lake Vandalia shall be seventy-five dollars ($75.00). No transfer shall be made pursuant to payment of a transfer fee unless a new seasonal permit shall have be contemporaneously.
