315 W Gallatin St
The oldest surviving capitol building in Illinois is putting on its best holiday duds and throwing its doors open to the public on December 14th from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The first 100 families to visit will receive a free ornament.
Visitors to the Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site will find the building illuminated by more than 200 candles and trimmed with decorations appropriate to the 1830’s when Abraham Lincoln served.
The historic site will also be collecting canned and non-perishable items that will be donated to the local food pantry.
Cookies and hot apple cider will be served.
